Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year to all our customers over the past year!! Reflecting on the past year we have made so many changes to the Tailend and have achieved so much in such a short space of time! We have a new fully stocked bar, New Dishes on our Menus; both take away and restaurant, Gin tasting menus, we got a major makeover, new website, created our monthly newsletter, launched our new deli meals, created our Tailend loyalty App, and we came Top 10 fish and chip restaurant of the year!! The ONLY finalists from Scotland! AND we survived another Open Championship with minimum casualties!! Such an eventful and successful year for us. None of which would happen without our customers support, so a huge thank you from all us! Cannot wait to see what 2016 brings us!! ----- At the ‘Tailend’ of this year you may remember we held a Charity Gin tasting evening on Monday 14th, ‘Food For Thought’. This Charity Gin Tasting was to help raise funds for Cupar Food Bank. Over the Christmas period in 2014 Cupar Food Bank delivered 88 Christmas food parcels in addition to giving out Hampers at the food bank itself. The Tesco National collection netted nearly 2 tonnes of food being collected and this along with the numerous generous donations of food and cash from local people, businesses, schools and churches meaning that they could provide fresh food for families for their Christmas dinner. Quaker Oats staff (Cupar) also collected 98 winter coats to help ensure families in need were able to keep warm in the colder weather. We are so happy we have come together as a community and helped those around us who really need our support. Jess (Manager) and Sam (Marketing) volunteered at the bank, packing the food parcels and Christmas hampers. We will also be delivering the food parcels to the community on Wednesday morning, Keep an eye on our social pages to see how everything went! We loved volunteering at the bank, helping to raise awareness and of course raising funds to help the bank maintain the work they do throughout the year! Due to our customers giving in many kind donations, buying raffle tickets and attending the Charity evening, we managed to raise over £400 for the charity!! A massive Thank You to all who made that possible! We aim to keep working for the Food Bank and continue our fundraising efforts in the future. We haven’t just helped Food Bank, over this past year we have donated over £200 to various fundraisers and charity work including; - LUCY FUNDRAISER FOR DEAF SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIP - MACMILLAN CANCER SUPPORT - DUNDEE DODGERS NETBALL TEAM - ARBROATH CRICKET CLUB - Jazzercise ‘Think Pink’ breast cancer fundraiser We have also given all our 5p bag charge to Fisherman’s Mission, obviously a charity close to us, many people don’t realise the background into simple Fish Supper! Our fishermen face danger, difficulty and poverty on a daily basis. However thanks to the Fishermen’s Mission, they’re not alone. The Fisherman’s Mission care for our active and retired fishermen in the most practical of ways – and they have done so for over 130 years! As the only national charity that works solely with fishermen and their families, the Fishermen’s Mission (formerly known as Royal National Mission to Deep Sea Fishermen – RNMDSF) offers financial, pastoral and spiritual support as well as a vital emergency response service. They help fishermen who have been in an accident, are taken ill, face poverty, are bereaved or simply need someone to talk to. If you’re a fisherman and you need their support, please visit their website for more information: http://www.fishermensmission.org.uk/contact/ . The Fishermen’s Mission depends upon gifts and legacy giving; they don’t receive government funding or lottery money. If you’d like to help the many fishermen facing hardships, please donate today; http://www.fishermensmission.org.uk/donate/ ----- 2016 plans So…. In 2016 we will finally see the opening of our Dundee store! There have been some construction setbacks and we really want to maintain the original feel of the ‘Deep Sea’ but add our little Tailend touch! So this takes a little more time but it will all be worth it in the end! Our opening party for the Dundee shop is shaping up to be a great night with a few surprises and a few familiar faces coming along (date to be confirmed). Don’t worry our subscribers will be the first to know! ----- We are currently working on new dishes for spring/summer? What do you all think of Surf and Turf being added to our menu? Perhaps bringing back Arbroath Smokie/ Smoked Mackerel pate? Also a new Gin Tasting menu and perhaps a Champagne tasting option! Our Loyalty App is going from strength to strength and the sky is the limit with how far we can push that! If you haven’t downloaded your app yet get yours in Google play or App store.
